Well done to the Cliff House. Very well deserved. It is GREAT to see the Michelin inspectors finally getting outside Dublin and Belfast this year. Hopefully in the coming years we will see other resturants outside of Dublin getting some well deserved visits from the inspectors. Ballymaloe House in Cork, Gregans Castle in Ballyvaughan and the Old Convent in Co. Tipperary are just some that come to mind as examples of rural Irish Resturants that have at least one star if they were in France. Every other award body gets to visit and reward these resturants. It's time Michelin gave their inspectors more time in Ireland. Hopefully the success of the Cliff House will make them realise this.

By far the best New Year's blog post I have read. A lesson well learned by all of us, and a fabulous reminder by you. Next week, I am getting together with a bunch of girls from University, one I haven't seen since we graduated in 1993 as she moved out of the country. I had planned on serving a casual buffet and a few nice bottles of wine, But I have this really special bottle of bubbly that I have carried around for years. You have convinced me to pull it out, add a few edible hibiscus flowers into the glasses, and share a special bottle with special friends while we are all there to enjoy it! Happy 2010 and keep up the great blog!

I agree it's an enjoyable and informative programme and also that the "recipes" are deceptively quick to prepare - ah well, that's TV. What a lovely family Jamie has, and how nice to see him eschew the bad language that too often mars his presentations - I didn't even notice its absence at the time, just goes to show how unnecessary it is.

Super recipe

You should try the oats from Macroom in this recipe.

Beautiful nutty flavour.

Mertyl Allen swears by them and I swear by her.

My favorite food rule he mentioned is "Don't yuck someone's yum". I often find that I love so many different foods, I am bound to eat something once in a while that somebody else near me might find disgusting. But I can bet that somewhere in the world there is somebody else who enjoys it just as much as I do!
